Summary
The Senior Manager for Member Support will provide leadership to the team in regard to the assessment of needs from Member Organizations in the region, ensuring these are understood, prioritised, and aligned with the broader goals of the Member Support Practice Team. The role also supports the overall monitoring of the Member Support Workplan in Interamerica and provides strategic technical assistance and operational support for projects, services, events, and assigned activities in the areas of Membership and Capacity Building.
- Contribute to the identification of needs of Member Organizations in the Interamerica Region, including the analysis of potential services and activities, in line with Regional Triennial Plan and the Strategy for Scouting.
- Lead the Member Support Team in Interamerica, ensuring staff are motivated empowered to perform their job and achieve results.
- Lead and manage assigned projects/services/activities, providing technical assistance in his/her area of expertise as required, and maximizing the capacity of consultants and volunteers for effective project execution.
- Support and monitor consultants and volunteers during service delivery, ensuring their ongoing training and development and the quality of service being delivered.
- Provide guidance to Member Organizations regarding WOSM membership, programmes, events, and other general inquires as designated by the appropriate Regional Support Centre.
- Provide expertise and support to World Scouting through the monitoring and upgrading as necessary of guidance and resources provided to Member Organizations.
- Contribute to projects, pilots and educational initiatives relevant to Member Support in the context of the implementation of World & Regional Triennial Plans, as requested and in partnership as needed with other practice teams.
- Communicate World Scouting’s impact through the provision of timely and quality reports to stakeholders and follow up with the development and management of stories and communications from the movement on the support
- Represent the Regional Support Centre needs through the creation and monitoring of the Member Support Workplan, ensuring the region's needs are understood, prioritised, and aligned with the broader goals of the Member Support Team.
- Assess service requests and projects for their Region with the wider Member Support Coordination team and provide clear direction and feedback to the Global Director and Cluster Coordinators.
Job requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or Administration (advanced degree preferred).
- At least 8 years of experience in the non-profit sector, with a focus on organizational development and capacity building.
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading multicultural teams, fostering collaboration and high performance.
- Experience in a national or international role managing programs or projects to strengthen local organizations’ capacities, engaging with leadership-level stakeholders.
- At least 3 years of experience supporting volunteers in a non-profit organization.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee and manage multi-stakeholder projects and deliver measurable impact.
- Expertise in Membership and Capacity Building fields, including NGO governance, volunteer engagement strategies, and organizational sustainability.
- Fluency in Spanish and English, both written and oral. French or Arabic is a plus.
- Strong digital literacy, proficient in Microsoft Office, Dropbox, Slack, and other digital collaboration tools.
- Ability to think strategically, planning and executing for multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Creative, problem-solving, service and a solutions-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail.
- Strong work ethic, collaborative and leadership skills, ability to work effectively with staff and volunteers in a multicultural environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
The World Scout Bureau offers a range of tangible and intangible working benefits in compliance with the practice and laws of Panama. This is a full-time position with a contract of three years (the contract is offered for one year initially, with a two-year extension following satisfactory performance review).
- The salary - paid based in Panamanian regulations - will be appropriate to the seniority of the role.
- The position will be based in Panama, Panama City (Interamerica Support Centre).
- Contractual hours of work are a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Additional hours may be required for the effective performance of the role. The successful candidate must be willing to travel internationally and work in the evenings and on weekends, when necessary.
- Annual leave and public holiday entitlement as per the law in Panama and the WSB Leave Policy.

- Satisfactory completion of the probation period (three months).
