The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will implement communications and marketing strategies, and support internal and crisis communications, with a focus on the Interamerica Scout Region.
Job description
The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will support the coordination and implementation of communications, marketing and storytelling strategies internally and externally, as well as assist with crisis communications, donation appeals and media relations, to position World Scouting as the world’s most inspiring and inclusive youth movement, with a particular focus on the Interamerica Scout Region. The Coordinator is also responsible for aspects of internal communications in support of other members of the regional team, and occasional collaboration with project partners.
Job requirements
- Lead the production of communications plans, strategies, materials, translations, and key messages for the Interamerica Scout Region’s internal and institutional communications, with a particular focus on the unity, engagement, visibility, and voice of Member Organizations.
- Generate and drive the production of content and impactful storytelling in Spanish and English across all regional communication channels, social media and web platforms internally and externally, and support the editorial standards and quality control for communications materials across the Practice Team.
- Support the alignment of external communication outputs with the Interamerica Scout Region’s partnership and advocacy agenda by developing impact stories that enhance Scouting’s visibility and influence among stakeholders, while ensuring the communication needs of special projects are met in coordination with the Interamerica Support Centre team.
- Support the Interamerica Scout Region with the management of crisis communications and donation appeals for crisis response, including strengthening the capacity of National Scout Organization leadership through training and learning opportunities.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of Interamerica Regional Scout events, and World Scout events as required, including managing sub-teams of volunteers, and leading event-specific communications, media, and crisis communications plans.
- Provide communication support to Member Organizations when relevant through WOSM Services, and keep the Regional Communications Network updated with latest developments in communications.
- Contribute to the global Communications and Digital Practice Team working across time zones by playing an active role in coordinating communications and marketing work, and staying up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and tools to drive an innovative approach to World Scouting’s work.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of work experience in a similar role focused on communications, marketing or public relations.
- Experience with social media management and email marketing tools such as Mailchimp, AgoraPulse, or equivalent.
- Experience with website content management systems such as Wordpress or Drupal.
- Strong project management skills with experience using tools like Notion and Trello.
- Strong digital literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Dropbox, Slack, and other digital collaboration tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
- Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in communications and marketing.
- Fluency in Spanish and English, both written and oral.
- Fluent in English, literacy in any of the other World Scouting languages (French, Arabic, or Spanish) will be an asset.
- Ability to think strategically, planning and executing for multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to thrive in changing environments, especially when introducing new technologies to global and distributed teams with diverse levels of digital literacy.
- Strong work ethic, collaborative and leadership skills, ability to work effectively with staff and volunteers in a multicultural environment.

- The salary paid on a monthly basis will be appropriate to the seniority of the role.
- The position is based in the Interamerica Support Centre in Panama City, Panama
- Contractual hours of work are a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Some travel and evening and weekend work may be required on occasion.
- Annual leave and public holiday entitlement as per the law in the country where the position is based and the World Scout Bureau Leave Policy.
